Hi Guys, version 6 of the unlinked brand mentions finder should be working much better. The #REF error is due to Google blocking the request. To get by this you can change the amount of results from 50 to 100 to 150 and vice versa, this will recrawl. Let me know if this is working better than before.

Still getting a reference error and seeing no solutions here. Is there a fix?

Reply

Hi Ellie, this should be fixed in the latest version 6.

Hey, as some other users have commented, it looks like the tool is not working. I get a #REF error when I try.

If anyone has any solution for this I’d be really thankful.

Cheers,

Juan

Hi, the tool worked the first time I opened it. After that, I keep getting #REF! in the results.
Also when I make a new copy from you’r original document, without changing anything.
I really think this tool is great when it works, so I hope you have a solution.
Already subscribed to you’r newsletter, in case you have to send a new upgrade.

Thanks already,

This does happen occasionally, still not sure why, but we’ll keep monitoring. Best is to try again later and let me know if this is still an issue?

Hi Guys, I’ve update the free brand unlinked mentions finder to version 3.0. This fixes the error you have been experiencing (Google blocking automated searches). The tool now pulls the top 100 results by default and follows each to check for a backlink or possible opportunity (lack thereof).

Awesome tool! Noticing the same issue as others above though – the doc processed my query once but not any other time. What am I doing wrong?

Reply
Vincent 1 September 2015 - 7:27 pm

Hi Sean,

Found out the problem was due to the captcha from Google. I was playing too much with all your ranktank stuff I guess 🙂 but there’s no fallback in this google doc for captcha (and also no option to pick a google domain, that would be awesome too).

Vincent

Hah 🙂 The IP address it uses isn’t yours, it’s a Google internal IP address. How did you see it was a captcha?

Is there something I am doing wrong? I input the domain url without the “www.” and then input a search term, but it doesn’t run. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Reply
Sean Malseed 19 December 2014 - 1:44 pm

Hey Gabe, thanks for trying out the tool! Sometimes Google just times out. When that happens, you should cut & paste your URL back into the cell. That forces the sheet to retry.
